Presentation
Created in Eden at The Little Red Schoolhouse, A Greatest Possible Distance is a work of theory-fiction produced from photo scans of the basement of the house. The work was initially presented as part of the collective exhibition Dogwood where the artists proposed the undoing of materials as their rebirth. To cite Eugène Viollet-le Duc (1855): “to restore a building is not to repair it, nor to do maintenance or to rebuild, it is to reestablish it in an ultimate state that never existed before.”
Biography
Fred Cave (1985-2017) was an artist, graphic designer and alumni of the Werkplaats Typografie.
His body of work spans the domains of art and design questioning the possibilities of montage and processes of reproduction to create new narratives through text, sound or images.
